The 2021 Highlander Hybrid | Features and Performance

Learn More About the 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid at Hudson Toyota

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid has long been a successful SUV. At Hudson Toyota in Jersey City, we're pleased to offer the 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid to our Newark customers. As a three-row model, this SUV is exactly what many people need, and for 2021, there have been some notable updates. Toyota has made LED projection headlamps a standard feature, and it has updated the safety package so it can do even more on your behalf.

Trim Levels

There are plenty of choices available to you in our current new inventory. The trims that we carry are the:

  • LE
  • XLE
  • Limited
  • Platinum

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid models use 2.5-liter engines in conjunction with electric motors. These can come with an electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive system. Hybrid Highlanders come with 243 horsepower, so there's still plenty of kick to them. They can tow up to 3,500 pounds, and obviously, their real advantage is their fuel economy. One of these hybrids can earn up to 36 miles per hour, so you can definitely save some money at the gas station over the long run.

If you'll be more comfortable with all-wheel drive, there's the opportunity to get that type of drivetrain installed in your Highlander Hybrid. We do recommend it if you think you'll be on the roads when the conditions aren't the best, as it can really improve your traction and keep you moving forward around Elizabeth.

Interior Features

As we mentioned, the Highlander Hybrid has three rows of seating. The first two are particularly spacious, with 42 and 41 inches of legroom, respectively. You'll have a choice of getting a bench seat or captain's chairs in the second row. You'll have to think about whether you need the additional seating position or want your cabin to have a more open feel. While the third row is a bit smaller, with 27.7 inches of legroom, it can be an ideal place for children to sit, and it can always be nice to have the additional seating just in case you ever need it. There are 16 cubic feet of storage space behind the third row, and if you lower all the back seats down, you'll have a huge cargo area to take advantage of. The maximum cargo capacity is over 84 cubic feet.

The cabin of the Highlander Hybrid can feel pretty sophisticated. Leather seats are available, and you can get a trim that has chrome accents, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and heated and ventilated front seats. Even the second row can come with heated seats if you want to treat your passengers to some extra warmth in the winter months around Manhattan.

Technology Features

In terms of technology, everything is very modern. You can get a head-up display so that you're more aware of key vehicle information. Also available are a bird's eye view camera, a seven-inch color digital display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with JBL speakers and integrated navigation. If you don't want to splurge, there's no need to worry. The base models come standard with eight-inch touchscreens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. Just as we've been accustomed to having, you'll have access to a lot of information while you're on the road.

Exterior Features

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid looks rugged and stylish. A Smart Key System makes it simple to unlock or lock the doors and liftgate. That liftgate has an available hands-free function. Some of the new trims come with power moonroofs or panoramic moonroofs, and a full array of LED lighting helps the SUV stand out around Newark and Elizabeth.
