Toyota Prius Model Changes for 2023
This year, Toyota has updated every aspect of the new Prius. This model now uses Toyota's new TNGA-C platform, which offers a wider stance, a lower driving position, and better fuel economy. Toyota has also outfitted the Prius with a new powertrain that uses all-wheel drive and outputs 194 hp.
Performance & Fuel Efficiency of the New Prius
Powering every Prius model is a 2.0-liter 194-hp inline-four hybrid setup that's attached to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive comes standard, though all-wheel drive is an available option. When equipped with AWD, the Prius can reach 196 horsepower.
As for its fuel economy, this too has been enhanced as it now gets an estimated 57/56 mpg.
Design
The interior of the new Prius now features a more traditional automotive cockpit. Now the gauge cluster is behind the steering wheel, and the roofline is lower by two inches. The steering wheel is wrapped in faux leather, while higher trims feature heated front seats and rear heated seats.
Technology
Technology abounds throughout the new Prius. A new eight-inch touchscreen comes standard on LE and XLE trims. While a 12.3-inch display is standard on the Limited and optional for the XLE. Both units come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and available Wi-Fi.
Safety
Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are standard safety features. While higher trims offer a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and an automated parallel parking system.
